In-Graph Notepad

Built a responsive, split-pane workspace from A to Z that embeds directly into live intelligence graphs. The tool lets investigators grab, annotate, and structure active data entities without context-switching to external text apps.

Problem :

Investigators waste time jumping between apps. When analyzing complex networks, they have to constantly switch from their graph view to tools like Word or Obsidian just to copy and paste data points line-by-line.

This causes massive data fragmentation. It breaks concentration mid-investigation, risks losing critical data lineage, and makes formatting multi-source entity properties incredibly tedious.

Solution :

Bypassed external note-taking by anchoring a rich-text workspace directly inside the graph layout. Right-clicking any node triggers an immediate "Add to Notepad" command, injecting interactive data variables straight into a dual-panel utility pane.

  • Notes Tab: Handles flexible drafting and text styling.

  • Featured Data Tab: Automatically collects, chronologically structures, and filters bookmarked graph items.

The layout unifies loose items into an organized pre-report that prints to a standardized PDF dossier in one click.

To embed a website or widget, add it to the properties panel.

Challenge :

The core obstacle was managing an inflated product scope. The initial business roadmap demanded a full-scale, standalone Report Editor with custom branding engines and complex document templates.

Tackling the design from scratch, the challenge was scoping this down into a high-utility Notepad MVP that developers could actually build quickly. I replaced abstract template ideas with practical in-context mechanics, designing micro-interactions like dynamic text tags and collapsible sidebars that scale perfectly across desktop web browsers and iPad apps.

100%
Attach a PDF file or paste a PDF link in the component settings.

Summary :

Turned a clunky, multi-app copy-paste routine into a fast, unified workspace workflow. By replacing manual data entry with context-menu node imports, the design cuts down administrative time and keeps the user's focus on the actual investigation.

Analysts can now capture intelligence as they find it, filter evidence on the fly, and output clean PDF reports without losing their momentum.
